Review Summary: unusual dragons
Review: It starts off interesting with a girl and a dead man. The girl has no memory due to a blow to the head, but she knows she's not human and she needs to remain free. Thus begins the running...from the cops...from the scientist...from the sexy guy in the car who tried to run her over. Unfortunately, Arthur doesn't keep the premise of lost memory for very long in the story. I think if she would have kept this mystery going, it probably would have kept a stronger story instead of a dull run here, run there. I liked her idea with the water dragons (lock Ness) and air dragons, but I thought her story plot was lacking major action.
It was pointed out by another reviewer that the story line of this story came to a close and that is true. If this becomes a series I hope she plans to make it with another leading character, perhaps Trae's sister. At least that is what I thought was eluded to in this story.

Review Summary: If I only knew....
Review: I bought this book and really wanted to like it. Unfortunately, it wasn't my type of book. That is not to say that it isn't well written and suspenseful - it's a good, solidly written story (that's why it merited 4 out of 5 stars). Unfortunately, it didn't quite fit the description released by the publisher. ...I wish the Amazon description and the publisher's description for this book included the information that the main characters are humans who shapeshift into dragons - I wouldn't have purchased the book. I'm not a big fan of shapeshifting fantasy stories. If you like paranormal romance with shapeshifting as a main focus, you'll like this story.

Review Summary: 3.5 stars - This paranormal romance series starter has a very standalone feel
Review: I liked Destiny Kills but I have to admit that I didn't enjoy the kickoff to Arthur's latest series quite as much as I would have, had I known going in that I was reading a paranormal romance. For some reason I was expecting the more suspense urban fantasy of Arthur's Riley Jensen Guardian series, and I kept waiting for gorgeous thief Trae Wilson to betray our heroine Destiny McCree instead of enjoying the romance between pair.
Arthur uses Destiny's situation at the start of the book to effectively introduce the rules of Destiny's world - Destiny starts out with no memory of herself and how she came to be naked on a strange beach with a dead naked man, other than she knows that she's not human - revealing the details to us, as Destiny's memory returns in large chunks. And as effective a device as this was, it was also nice that that Arthur didn't drag it out for the whole book, because it would have only slowed down the action - Destiny has places to go, family to see, people to rescue and pursuers to elude and fortunately with Trae along she may actually succeed. But even though the book keeps moving along pretty well, all of the challenges to Destiny and her relationship with Trae are handled without a great deal of muss or fuss, so that the parts of the book I liked the best were the ones in which Arthur breaks the action and describes to describe Destiny and Trae in their other forms - I really liked Destiny's interactions with the sea, but then shapeshifters are probably my favorite otherworldly beings, and Destiny and Trae's dragon forms are pretty cool.
Even though Destiny Kills is supposed to be the first book in a new series it has a very standalone feel, all of the problems facing Destiny and Trae feel very resolved by the end of a book and their happily ever after seems to be pretty well establish, so I have no idea where Arthur will take her series next.

Review Summary: My fav. Author pulls through again
Review: Really loved this book. I have read every one of Keri Arthurs books and although some not as FANTASTIC as others the VAST MAJORITY of time they are just that FANTASTIC.
No matter what, she never fails to deliver, and I would never miss any of her excellent reads.
